Our Worship Services
At the City of Refuge we purpose to be led by the Holy Spirit and to let the Holy Spirit have His way in our services. We do not have a pre-planned “order of service;” however, we do believe in doing everything decently and in order, as mandated in 1 Corinthians 14:40.
We strongly emphasize the preaching and teaching of the Word of God, prayer and intercession, and praise and worship, and we allow the Holy Spirit to move as He wills in our services. This means that no two services are exactly alike. However, every service is tailor made by the Holy Spirit to meet the needs of the Body at that time. This is why we sometimes may spend more time in the teaching and preaching of the Word, and at other times, more time may be given to prayer and/or praise and worship. Furthermore, we believe that “every joint” supplies what is needed in the Body, so we encourage the saints to exercise their gifts for the edification of the Body, as the Lord leads, under the authority of church leadership. We also believe that the Lord desires to move through children and young people, and not just through adults. Therefore, we encourage our children to exercise the gifts and callings that are in their lives, under the covering of the church leadership.
